Retreats in Prison Greater Twin Cities Resident Encounter Christ

Description: Greater Twin Cities Residents Encounter Christ (GTC-REC) is a Catholic based two-day retreat for jail or prison residents that is designed to give the residents a chance to learn about Christ and how He can change their lives, based on the Paschal Mystery, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Inside participants experience the message of Christ through participation in music, discussions, talks, prayer, Scripture, liturgy and celebration. Residents are given the opportunity for Reconciliation and the weekend is concluded with Mass.

Prerequisites for outside team members are: Participation in Together Encounter Christ (TEC), Cursillo, Walk to Emmaus or similar charismatic weekend retreat plus DOC facility training (3
hrs) and background check.

Commitment: Team formation – 1/2 day prior to the retreat; Retreat weekend – 2 1/2 days. The Retreat Team is in the prison during the day and spends overnights on the outside. Meals
and a place to sleep for the Retreat Team on the outside over the weekend are usually provided at a Catholic Church near the institution to minimize travel; Reunion – 1/2 day the Saturday following the retreat.
