Pen Pals for Prisoners

Description: The Pen Pals for Prisoners Program is operated through the Order of Malta and Twin Cities Prison Ministry. Letters go directly to inmates using outsider Pen Pal’s first name only or pseudonym.
Outside Pen Pal’s use the following return address: Outside Pen Pal’s first name/pseudonym, Pen Pal Program, PO Box 22263, St. Paul, MN 55122.

Letters sent from inmates go to the Pen Pal PO Box. The Pen Pal Coordinator
forwards the letter to the outside Pen Pal. Letterhead, sample letters, instructions, guidelines and suggestions are provided.

Commitment: Candidates commit to writing a minimum of 1 letter per month for 1 year. Depending upon inmate’s release date and your commitment, letter writing may continue longer.
